Hull’s Jake Livermore Suspended after Failed Dope Test

Hull City midfielder Jake Livermore has been suspended by the Premier League club after testing positive for cocaine.

The Tigers said in a statement: “Following suspension by the FA the Club has subsequently suspended Jake Livermore pending further investigations to be made by the FA and our own internal disciplinar”

The £8m signing from Tottenham Hotspur has made 39 appearances for Hull City this season.

He signed a three-year contract with Hull in June 2014 with the club holding an option for a further year extension.

He now faces a six-month ban and a possible termination of contract if his ‘B’ samples results as well turns out positive.

The one-time England international has had loan spells at MK Dons, Derby, Peterborough, Ipswich and Leeds.

Steve Bruce’s men are 18th in the Premier League table, two points shy of Newcastle and Sunderland and three points shy of 15th-placed Leicester City.

They travel to Tottenham Hotspur this weekend, before their final game of the season at home to Manchester United on Sunday, 24 May.

Senator Faults Maikasuwa Over NASS Elections

A member of the Unity Forum, Senator Kabiru Marafa, has accused the clerk of the National Assembly (CNA) of fraud for his actions during the June 9 Senate elections that produced Senator Bukola Saraki as president of the 8th Senate. According to him, the CNA amended the Senate Standing Order without the knowledge of the senators, thereby changing the Standing Rule of the Senate – that for any presiding officer to emerge, he must score two-thirds votes of the number of the senators, and not one-third as the CNA stated before the said election.
