APC Must Deliver On Campaign Promises, No Excuses – Lamido

Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has warned president-elect, Muhammadu Buhari and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to ensure that they deliver on their electoral promises as no excuses will be tolerated by Nigerians.

The governor said this at the inauguration of the Shiroro bridge in Niger State, reminding the APC that no conditions about whether the economy was favourable or not were given during electioneering.

“They tried to break and distort Nigeria’s harmony, they tried to turn tribe against tribe, brother against brother, raising false hope. They must fulfil all their promises because there was no condition of good or favourable economy when they were making these promises,” said Lamido.

“Do not give any excuse because we will not tolerate any excuse because there was no condition given when they were soliciting and asking for votes.

“During campaigns, APC were busy blackmailing the PDP; they did not raise any developmental issue; they were busy harping on the dysfunctionalities of the nation, which included Boko Haram, corruption and other security issues. They never knew a day of reckoning will come. Now, they have to fulfill all those promises they made,” Lamido stated.

“Leadership and governance have lost meaning because it does not give rights, it only confers privileges. Any nation that denies people their rights is a nation waiting to explode. Governance is a responsibility,” Lamido explained.

The governor also dismissed reports that he had no plans to form another political party, together with his Niger State counterpart Babangida Aliyu. “I will not leave my home for tenants to live in “We dey kampe for PDP, we dey shelele for PDP. PDP has honoured and dignified me and I will not leave my home for tenants,” he said, stressing that he was one of the founding fathers of the PDP.

“We will be in PDP. Which character in PDP can claim PDP if not people like us? Who are we going to leave PDP for? Where are we going to leave PDP to?” he asked.

Senator Faults Maikasuwa Over NASS Elections

A member of the Unity Forum, Senator Kabiru Marafa, has accused the clerk of the National Assembly (CNA) of fraud for his actions during the June 9 Senate elections that produced Senator Bukola Saraki as president of the 8th Senate. According to him, the CNA amended the Senate Standing Order without the knowledge of the senators, thereby changing the Standing Rule of the Senate – that for any presiding officer to emerge, he must score two-thirds votes of the number of the senators, and not one-third as the CNA stated before the said election.
